Training workshop for parilamentary staff, Arusha, Tanzania, December 14-17, 2010. The Forum has held a workshop for parliamentary staff of parliamentary networks/caucuses on population and development in FAAPPD English Speaking member countries in sub-saharan Africa in Arusha the capital city of Tanzania. The main objective of this five-day workshop was to strenghten the capacity of non-parliamantary staff of parliamentary networks/committees on Population and Development for the implementation of the ICPD plan of action in its member countries.

Sen. Marwane Al-HAMOUD has been reappointed member of the Senate of Jordan by King Abdullah II on November 25, 2010. He has afterwards been elected by the members of the Senate first Assistant to the President of the Council. Hon. Marwane Al-HAMOUD is the current Secretary General of the Forum of African and Arab Parliamentarians for Population and Development.

The UN labor agency releases report on unemployment. The total number of unemployed worldwide remained flat at 205 million in 2010 according to a report released on Tuesday, January 25 by the UN labor agency. The unemployment rate came to 6.2% last year, down 0.1% point from 2009, the International Labor Organization (ILO) report 2011 Global Employment Trends showed. According to the report, one of the main causes of the revolution in Tunisia was the unrest caused having a growing number of young people without jobs. ILO estimates that in North Africa as a whole  23.6% of economically active young people were unemployed in 2010.
